Understanding Open Graph
How to use the generator
- 1Page url. The canonical address of the page. It becomes og:url.
- 2Title and description. Write them for people scrolling a feed. They can differ from the title tag.
- 3Image. An absolute https url to an image of 1200 by 630 pixels. The tool checks it.
- 4Copy. Paste the tags into the head of the page, then test the live page with the Open Graph checker.
Image sizes
1200 by 630 pixels, a ratio of 1.91 to 1, works for Facebook, LinkedIn and the large card on X. Keep the important part in the centre, since some apps crop to a square. Use JPEG or PNG under 5 MB.
Caching
Social networks cache the card when the link is first shared. After a change, ask them to scrape the page again with the Facebook Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector.
Privacy
The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Aback or anywhere else, and your last input is kept in this browser so a reload does not lose it.

Frequently asked questions
What is Open Graph?
A set of meta tags, first defined by Facebook, that tell social networks and chat apps which title, description and image to show when a link is shared.
Do I need Twitter card tags?
X falls back to Open Graph for the title, description and image. You still need twitter:card to choose the large image layout.
Why does my image not show?
The url must be absolute, public and served over https, and the image must be small enough to download quickly. The tool checks that it loads.
What is the best image size?
1200 by 630 pixels. Anything under 600 by 315 may be shown as a small thumbnail.
Should og:title match the title tag?
It does not have to. Social titles can drop the brand and speak to the reader more directly.
How long can the description be?
Around 150 characters is safe. Facebook shows about one line, LinkedIn often none, so put the key point first.
How do I check the live page?
Run the Open Graph checker on the published url. It reads the tags your server sends.
