Free generator, runs in your browser

XML Sitemap Generator from a list of urls

Paste your urls, choose the defaults and download a valid sitemap.xml. Every url is validated, duplicates are removed, and you can set lastmod, changefreq and priority per line.

Generate a sitemap

One url per line. Add a date, frequency or priority after a comma to override the defaults.

One absolute address per line. Up to 50,000.

Google ignores change frequency and priority. Last modified helps when it is accurate.

Why use the XML Sitemap Generator

    Bulk urls

Paste thousands of urls from a spreadsheet or a crawl, up to the limit of 50,000 a file.

    Per url values

Override lastmod, changefreq and priority on any line, or set them for all urls at once.

    Validated

Relative urls, other hosts, fragments and duplicates are caught and explained.

    Escaped correctly

Ampersands and quotes in urls are escaped, so the XML always parses.

When to use the XML Sitemap Generator

    Static sites

Write a sitemap for a site without a CMS plugin.

    Landing pages

Add pages that the CMS sitemap leaves out.

    Migrations

Submit the new urls so search engines find them faster.

    Crawl exports

Turn a list from a crawler into a sitemap in seconds.

    Image or doc hubs

List the pages that are hard to reach through links.

    Testing

Create a small sitemap to submit a handful of urls.

    Understanding XML Sitemap

    How to use the generator

    1. 1Urls. Paste absolute urls, one per line, all on the same host.
    2. 2Defaults. Choose a lastmod date and, if you want, a changefreq and priority.
    3. 3Overrides. Add values after a comma: url, 2026-10-01, weekly, 0.8.
    4. 4Publish. Upload sitemap.xml to the root, add it to robots.txt and submit it in Search Console.

    Which fields matter

Google uses lastmod when it is consistently accurate and ignores changefreq and priority. Bing reads lastmod too. Leave changefreq and priority out unless another consumer needs them, and only set lastmod to the date the content really changed.

    Limits

One sitemap holds up to 50,000 urls and 50 MB uncompressed. A sitemap may only list urls on its own host. Larger sites split the urls over several files listed in a sitemap index.

    Privacy

The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Aback or anywhere else, and your last input is kept in this browser so a reload does not lose it.

    Frequently asked questions

Where do I put the sitemap?

Usually at the root, for example https://example.com/sitemap.xml. Add a Sitemap line to robots.txt and submit it in Search Console.

    Does priority help rankings?

No. Google ignores priority and changefreq. They do no harm, but they do nothing for Google.

    What date should lastmod have?

The date the main content of the page last changed, in W3C format such as 2026-10-28. Do not set every url to today.

Can I include urls from another domain?

Not in a normal sitemap. Each host needs its own, unless you verify both in Search Console and use cross-site submission.

    Should I list every page?

List the canonical pages you want indexed. Leave out redirects, error pages, noindex pages and duplicates.

What if I have more than 50,000 urls?

Split them into several sitemaps and list them in a sitemap index file.

How do I check the published sitemap?

Run the sitemap checker. It reads the live file, checks robots.txt and requests a sample of the urls.
